A few years ago we were invited to Sirius for an educational conference. The place was new to us at the time. It was impressive, modern and LARGE.
We were allocated a spacious room for the organisers in the far wing of the building. It was beautiful, with a bar (sadly empty), lots of desks, and a jumble of boxes and doors. After exploring two or three offices behind the doors, we found a warehouse of unnecessary things and quickly lost interest in them. And then we plunged into the usual sequence of organisational activities: construction, furniture and navigation, meeting participants, speakers, catering, etc., etc. ... Every day we ‘ran’ 20-25 thousand steps.
And the biggest difficulty of this event was.... the distance to the lavatories. Surprise? :) As already mentioned, the facility was very LARGE. The nearest toilets were either on other floors or at other ends of the building. It was a nightmare.... If the cherished WC signs came into sight, you absolutely had to run there. Even if you didn't feel like it.
Because next time you might not make it. :)
On the last day of the conference, our colleague, magician Valentin, joined us. Having brilliantly conducted the final show, the whole team went to the headquarters to pack their things. And then Valentin, quite by chance, opens one of the doors with the words: ‘Is there a shower here by any chance?’
What was his disappointment when instead of a shower he found only a toilet. TOILET! A royal one, by the way. With floor-to-ceiling mirrors and marble walls. Magic!
And then we realized that we should have listened more attentively to Valentin's master class on ‘attention management’!
